GROUND RULES 2021 - 2022
Age – All members must be 18 years of age before October 7, 2021. The only exception to this rule is the DWTC’s continued support of the “juniors group” where non-‐playing parents may purchase a membership for their child. Children under the age of 18 are limited to playing times of 6 - 8am and 4 - 6pm.
Identification – Members must have their ID badge clearly visible during play (typically attached to a tennis bag).
Reservations – Courts are numbered 1, 2, and 3 with court 1 is next to the south wall and court 3 next to the stage. Court reservations of any available court times may be made up to 7 days in advance by going to the DWTC scheduling site (https://dwtennis.skedda.com). Alternatively, members can call or text 630.297.7826 or email dwtc.help@outlook.com. Please be considerate and update your reservations if your schedule changes so that others can use that time.
Permanent Court Time – Permanent court time assignments will be assigned to groups at the beginning of the season in the most equitable way based on requested time slots. Preference will be given to doubles groups over singles, and the number of court times allotted during the prime time slots (6PM - 9PM) will depend on the size of the group. For example, a group with four members may get two assigned spots in the early evening and a group with eight members may get four spots. If your group will not be using your assigned court time, members must send an email to dwtc.help@outlook.com as early as possible so that the court time may be made available to others for that week.
The board will work with the group leaders to assign permanent court times at the beginning of the year.
The board has the discretion to reassign the permanent court times during the season for the benefit of DWTC.
If the assigned court times are not being fully utilized, the board may ask the group to relinquish the unused court times.
The board has the final decision in scheduling.
Guests and Fees – A non-‐member may play as a guest of a member a maximum of 5 times per season (Nov 15 - April 30). A member who procures a non-member substitute is responsible for the guest fee and group leaders shall ensure guest fees are paid. Guest fees are $10 per guest per session and payable on the day of play. The DWTC fee box is located to the right of the sign in book attached to the wall. Fill out the guest fee form and enclose cash (or a check payable to DWTC). Alternately, members can pay electronically via your bank's Zelle-compatible money transfer service (such as Chase Quickpay or Wells Fargo Surepay) to PAYDWTC@GMAIL.COM. You may also mail checks to "DWTC, 1308 PICKWICK CT, Naperville, IL 60563-2035".
Professional Lessons – Professional lessons are defined as being paid in money, goods, services, or barter. Except as noted in the separate document Professional Teacher Ground Rules, members shall not use the DuPage County Fair Association (DCFA) courts for giving professional tennis lessons. If you see professional lessons being given that do not follow the Professional Teacher Ground Rules, immediately report it to both Margie Pierce and Mark Ahlemann. Note the date, time, court number, and individuals.
Building Use – DWTC is allowed use of the building for tennis and no other activity. Our contract specifically prohibits alcoholic beverages on the premises. Problems with equipment or facilities should be reported to Margie Pierce. Individual members are responsible for putting trash in the proper receptacle, locking the doors, and turning out the lights after use.
Lost and found - If you have lost any items in the building, please send an email to dwtc.help@outlook.com and provide a description of the item and when you lost it. And if you find any items in the building that a DWTC member may have left behind, please hold on to it and send an email to dwtc.help@outlook.com. If any member is looking for the lost item, we will inform both parties.
Walls – The DCFA prohibits us from hitting off the wall as a backboard.
Ball Machine or Basket – A ball machine (or basket of balls) is permitted only when all other courts are vacant.
Etiquette – Members must abide by the rules defined below under DWTC Court Etiquette.
The Board requires that members abide by these rules and assist in enforcing them. Violation of these rules may result in termination of membership at the Board’s discretion. No refunds will be issued should termination be necessary.

COURT ETIQUETTE 2021 -22
Please be mindful of the safety of others in regards to COVID-19 when you are playing:
Try to keep at least 6 feet away from other players when possible
Do not have more than four players on the court at any time
Frequently wash or sanitize your hands
Do not touch your face until you have washed or sanitized your hands
Do not handle any tennis balls from other courts with your hands, instead, use your racquet to send the ball back
If you are feeling unwell, PLEASE do not play, for the safety of others
Crossing Courts During Play – Do not cross at mid-court of the court that's in use. Crossing should be done behind the court along the wall between service points with the server’s permission.
Errant Balls – Do not enter an adjacent in‐play court to retrieve your ball. The other court will retrieve the ball at their convenience. Alert other courts to a ball danger (i.e., your ball rolls onto their court).
Holding on to Stray Balls - When a ball from the next court enters your play area, wait until that court is between points before sending the ball back. This will ensure that they don't get a ball coming back to them between a first and second serve or while the point is being played out.
Early Arrivals – Do not wait along the wall behind the courts! When waiting for your assigned court, stay on or next to the stage adjacent to court 3. Arrival time should be less than 15 minutes before your scheduled time. Be considerate of other players.
Inclement Weather – Avoid tracking snow or mud into the building by knocking it off outside. If your shoes are wet wipe them near the door. The lunchroom door is for our convenience so be considerate of the fairground maintenance staff who could remove this privilege.
Relinquish Court – End your session with sufficient time to allow the next group to take the court at the start of their time period. Please be courteous to the next group. Do not ask others to to use a court other than the one they have reserved just because you have not completed your game at the end of your time period.
Changeovers – To reduce distractions to other courts on changeovers, players should only congregate near court sidelines. Chairs are allowed near court sidelines but not behind baselines.
General Distractions – Be considerate and use common sense courtesy to keep our tennis playing environment enjoyable for all members. Don’t pound balls against the wall, throw your racquet, or resort to other practices that may be distracting to players on adjacent courts.
Lockup – Never assume another group is coming. If you are the last person to leave, make sure the lights are off and the door is locked. Keep our environment safe!
